Harvard Referencing/ Essay brief/ bibliography

In Richards session we were told about Harvard referencing. I had to use the referencing system to collect five books which were relevant to an essay question we were going to be given. There was five essays which we could choose from. Here is the question which i have chosen:

Choosing a particular period from 1800 to present, in what ways has art and design responded to the changing social and cultural forces of that period.

Heller, S. (2000) 'Graphic Design Time Line', New York, Allworth Press.

An interesting amount of milestones which would be really useful to look into. It'd help identify beneficial events in society that helped shape Art & Design.

Meggs, P, B. (1985) 'A History Of Graphic Design',  London, Penguin Books Ltd.

This book had a brilliant source of information for around the 60's. There was detailed analysis on design, popular culture, celebrities etc.

Cawthorne, N. (1998) 'Sixties Source Book', Kent, Grange Books.

Perfect for looking at the 60's era. It looked at who was influential, architecture, art, fashion, hardware, furniture, music.

Raimes, J & Bahaskaran L. (2007) 'Retro Graphics', Cambridge, Llex Press Ltd.

This book looked at physcadelics and how the youth had taken control. It was very interesting and there was a whole range of different graphic designs which had been produced in the 60's period, heavily influenced by the events in society.

Heller, S. (2010) 'POP: 'How Graphic Design Shapes Popular Culture', New York, Allworth Press.

This book was perfect for looking at how culture and graphic design are linked, and the influences in which pushed art and design to its limits.

I'm not yet set on the specified essay question, so it may change.
